I'm Outta Here

This'll be the last post on this blog for a while. I'm headed off on my mission, so I'll see you all in two years! Hopefully my mom will keep my new mission blog (find it here!) up to date, but if not, write me in the MTC at

I have a testimony, it's humble yet certain, of Jesus Christ. This work is right, and it is one of those absolute truths of the universe. I am doing the right thing, and I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work! See you all in two years!

There's Another One!

Ladies and Gentlemen, brace yourselves! I am not as unique as I once thought. This is truly earth shattering news! Apparently, there's another strapping young lad named Joe blogging under the title "Joe In Real Life," and he's from Sweden. Fortunately, he and I aren't very similar, so there's no need to worry about there being two of me walking around. Anyway, I think it's pretty cool, no? I guess this world isn't quite as big as it once was.

Right Round

A thin piece of plastic steadily spins. The lettering rights itself thirty-three times every minute. A tiny diamond vibrates in a microscopic chasm, releasing sound waves left unheard for more than thirty years. Amplified by modern technology, they fall on the ears of a person not old enough to remember the Berlin Wall, the Iron Curtain, the Yugo, or even the American Fiat. Too young. He should be listening to someone named 'Ga-Ga', or even one T. Swift, of whom he is particularly fond. However, he is engrossed in these sounds twice to three times as old as he is. Static pops and buzzes fill the air as the needle reaches the end of it's groove. The young man gently lifts the arm, flips the record over, and sets the turntable on another thirty three rotations a minute. Old School has never been so cool.

Back

Well interweb world, Joe Huston is back. I've returned from glorious adventures at Brigham Young, and now I've got some time on my hands, so expect great things from this blog. As a kickoff for this little blog's rebirth, here's a college collage of pics of the last few months! Exciting, no?

And after all that, It's time for something completely different...

Who Are You?

I revel in brevity.

My name is Joe.

I live in Utah.

I ski.

I also enjoy reading

And writing.

I am unique because

I unicycle.

I collect vinyl.

I have a slot car track,

A turntable,

And an arcade system

In my apartment.

I also mountain bike.

And am a bit of a petrol head.

I like cheese.

Especially with crackers.

I also enjoy Wallace and Grommet

Top Gear, Jeeves and Wooster,

Alfred Hitchcock,

And many other old things.

I was born into the wrong era

I was raised in a time warp.

I know who John Galt is.

Actually I don't because I have

Yet to read more than 400 pages

Of that book.

I have worked with Reed Smoot

And have starred as an extra in a commercial.

I am a grip, wrangler, PA, and an Assistant Camera Operator

Rolled into one.

I have filmed

A major motion picture

and 13 commercials.

I have worked as a carpenter,

cabinet craftsman,

and holder of countless flashlights

while my dad fixed the car.

I am a professional Photographer.

True story.

And I enjoy long walks on the beach.

I read Car and Driver, Popular Mechanics

And thumb through Seventeen on my spare time.

Yes I take the quizzes.

That is actually a lie.

I enjoy Hemmingway,

Hurston, and Miller.

I like to cook.

I am also an athlete.

I play baseball and run

for a lot of miles.

My name is Joseph Gordon Huston III,

And I am a Son of God.

Not Smarter

Albert Einstein, one of the greatest scientists in the history of the world, was quoted as saying "It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer." Think about it.
